The Sill Team
Sill professionals, many of whom are former insurance company claims adjusters, are seasoned in the art and science of public claims adjusting. Each is an expert in winning the battles with insurers and making certain the disaster that hit a client’s business doesn’t turn into yet another calamity – getting far less than expected and/or truly due from an insurance policy.
Sill maintains a permanent team of in-house professionals, each an expert within their respective fields — among them veterans with years of experience as real estate facilities managers or as property and building appraisers while others have similar backgrounds as machinery and equipment appraisers. Sill also has a staff of Certified Public Accountants serving as accounting, tax, valuation and forensic experts. Additionally, Sill has in-house legal counsel available as an aid to serving as a seamless, unified resource for its clients.

Robert L. Sill, Chairman of the Board Emeritus (Blessed Memory)
Past President of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA), Robert Sill is a leading authority in his field. His pioneering efforts helped to set the standard for the industry. Once active in many civic, cultural, and philanthropic organizations, he is a former board member of a major nationwide bank, former Chairman of the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury in Cleveland, Ohio, past President of the American ORT Federation, headquartered in New York, and an Officer of World ORT.
Michael C. Perlmuter, JD, Chief Executive Officer & General Counsel
Michael Perlmuter brings to Alex N. Sill Company extensive experience in both managing business and practicing law. His prior experience includes serving as Managing Principal of a wealth management firm, as Chief Executive Officer of Perlmuter Printing, and as an attorney with Benesch Friedlander Coplan & Aronoff of Cleveland, Ohio. He is actively serving as a Trustee on numerous local philanthropic Boards, including the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland, the Cleveland Board of the American Jewish Committee, the Cleveland Board of the Anti-Defamation League, and the Cleveland Regional Alumni Admission Committee for Georgetown University. Michael is a graduate, cum laude, of Georgetown University and The George Washington University Law School, both in Washington, D.C.
Liz Cross, CPA, Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining the Sill Company as Chief Financial Officer, Liz was the Vice President of Finance at WBC Group, LLC. Prior to that, she was a Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers servicing many different industries. Liz has served on several community boards and is actively serving as a board member of The Gathering Place. Liz is a graduate of Franciscan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Tom Kaufman, MBA, Director of Marketing & Digital Media
Prior to joining the Sill Company as Director of Marketing & Digital Media, Tom comes to Sill from his own agency, Owll Marketing in Mentor. Prior to that, he was Senior Director of Marketing at Maritz Global Events in St. Louis, Missouri and Director of Marketing at Experient, a Maritz Global Events Company. Tom brings extensive experience to Sill in leading and developing integrated digital marketing strategies as well as an understanding of the ever-changing marketing landscape impacting businesses today. He is a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Advertising as well a Master of Business Administration degree from Lake Erie College’s Parker MBA program.
Jeffrey O’Connor, SPPA, Vice President
As Vice President, Jeffrey O’Connor directs our management team that provides urgent claim assistance to clients affected by catastrophes throughout North America. He is currently serving as President and a member on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA) and has earned its highest professional designation, Senior Professional Public Adjuster (SPPA). Jeffrey graduated from Walsh College with multiple majors, has been a licensed public adjuster since 1985 and joined Alex N. Sill Company in 1992.
Neal J. Novak, Regional Vice President
Neal Novak’s experience includes working both on behalf of the policyholder and insurance companies, agents and brokers. While with Coopers & Lybrand and later with Deloitte & Touche, he provided services on major complex claims in support of their global clients. Since becoming a public adjuster in 1984, Neal has provided claims management services to a variety of individuals, companies and institutions.
Ryan S. Wittensoldner, Regional Vice President, General Adjuster
Prior to joining the Sill Company as a licensed public adjuster, Ryan’s experience included ten years with Nationwide Insurance where he was the top large loss property adjuster in the country. His expertise and knowledge in the adjustment of large and complex commercial property claims makes him an invaluable advocate for Sill and its clients. Ryan attended Kent State University. Since joining Sill, Ryan has adjusted many multi-million dollar losses, including recently a settlement of in excess of $60 million.
Jaeson L. Taylor, Regional Vice President
Prior to joining the Sill Company as a licensed public adjuster, Jaeson practiced law for 17 years, most recently for his own successful litigation firm. He has twice been named a “Rising Star” by SuperLawyers Magazine, an honor given to less than 5% of attorneys annually. As a former business owner, Jaeson brings to Sill not only his extensive legal knowledge and experience managing claims against insurance carriers, but also his understanding of the challenges facing businesses today. Jaeson is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College with a degree in Accounting, and earned his law degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
Steven Van De Voorde, Regional Vice President
Prior to joining the Sill Company, Steven successfully established and operated a highly successful national Property & Casualty Insurance Brokerage based in Wisconsin for 22 years. As a result of his professional experience as an insurance broker representing a broad range of insurers, Steven brings valuable perspective and insight to insureds facing insurance claims. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing and Management where he was a competitive student athlete and served as a member of the University Community Outreach Program.
Michael S. Hickle, Vice President
Manager, Adjusting Department & Executive General Adjuster
Prior to joining the Sill Company in 2006 as a licensed public adjuster, Mike Hickle managed hurricane adjusting activities, including Hurricanes Jeanne and Katrina, for State Farm Insurance Companies and was a Large Loss Specialist for 10 years. Mike’s experience with Sill Company includes handling numerous types of major complex claims throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. His exemplary leadership skills have earned him the position of managing the Sill Company adjusting staff. Mike is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University.
Dean B. Harclerode, SPPA, Vice President, Executive General Adjuster
Dean Harclerode has been adjusting losses since 1981. Prior to joining the Sill Company, Dean represented the insurance companies for eight years as an independent adjuster, staff adjuster and then as a supervisor for Aetna Life & Casualty. Designated as a Senior Professional Public Adjuster by the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters, he has extensive experience handling major claims throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Dean has a BS in Commerce Degree from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
Michael Werner, Executive General Adjuster
After attending Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, Michael joined a regional firm of Independent Insurance Adjusters and was later promoted to Branch Manager. After representing the insurance companies for more than ten years, Michael joined the Sill Company as an adjuster in 1991 and has handled numerous types of claims ranging from homeowners to major commercial losses.
Dan Doorley, General Adjuster
Dan’s comprehensive knowledge and perspective of the claims adjustment process comes from prior experience as an agent, an insurance company adjuster and currently as a public insurance adjuster. Prior to joining the Sill Company, Dan represented Cincinnati Insurance Company for more than eight years on commercial, industrial and residential claims. He is a graduate of the University of Toledo in Ohio.
Jason Marrero, CPCU, AIC, Executive General Adjuster
Jason Marrero has been in the insurance industry for over 15 years performing a variety of roles including supervisor, trainer and large loss adjuster. Prior to joining the Sill Company, Jason was a large loss property adjuster for Hanover Insurance handling claims throughout the country involving new commercial and residential construction. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty & Underwriting (CPCU) and Associate in Claims (AIC) from the American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters. Jason attended the University of California, Irvine on a soccer scholarship and received his Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University of Ohio.
Donald J. Dragony, CPA, CFF, Senior Vice President & Director of Forensic Accounting
Donald Dragony has been a member of Alex N. Sill Company since 1984. He received his Masters Degree in 1987 upon completing his thesis, “Business Interruption Insurance: Representing the Insured.” Don has been a featured author in the Journal of Accountancy and a guest speaker on business interruption topics to many national trade associations. Don also has been certified by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as being Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). The CFF credential is granted only to CPAs with considerable expertise in forensic accounting.
Joseph Migliore, CPA, CFF, Senior Forensic Accountant
With financial management responsibilities in a variety of industries, and several years of experience as an insurance claim auditor for a public accounting firm, Joseph Migliore is uniquely qualified to prepare and present business interruption claims. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1978 and is also Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF).
Cathy Stibora, CPA, Senior Forensic Accountant
With more than 30 years as an accounting professional, Cathy Stibora has a diverse background in both manufacturing and service organizations. Cathy became a Certified Public Accountant in 1983 and is a member of both the American Institute of CPA’s as well as the Ohio Society of CPA’s.
Chris Jensen, Manager, Building Appraisal Department
Chris Jensen has over 15 years of experience preparing appraisals on major property losses. Prior to joining the Sill Company, Chris was an estimator and project manager for the world’s largest restoration contractor and managed projects of all types and size throughout the United States. Chris holds numerous industry certifications, including for IICRC Fire, Water, Smoke and Mold.
Don Baker, Building Appraiser
Don Baker has more than 30 years of experience in both commercial and residential construction. Prior to joining the Sill Company, he worked as an estimator and project manager, specializing in restoration. Don has worked extensively assessing, documenting and representing the scope of damage on claims throughout the United States and Canada, including large loss claims caused by hurricanes.
Jerry Mazzoni, Building Appraiser
Jerry Mazzoni brings over 25 years of experience to the Sill Company. For eight years he represented the insurance companies for both the carrier and as an independent adjuster. Following that Jerry worked for the world’s largest restoration contractor and then subsequently owned his own insurance restoration company for 13 years. He is an expert in construction knowledge and scope of damage making him an invaluable advocate for Sill and our clients. Jerry is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College.
Keith Brenneman, Building Consultant
Keith Brenneman has done damage appraisal work for the Sill Company since 1991 after serving 23 years in the construction and building restoration industry. He is a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators. His estimating experience encompasses all types of property claims including the California earthquakes and storm catastrophes in the Caribbean.
Orville “Bud” Gibson, Building Consultant
Bud Gibson has more than 40 years of experience in large commercial, residential, institutional and industrial construction, including prior ownership of an insurance restoration business. He has handled major losses throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean for Sill Company.
Thomas F. Radel, Manager, Contents Appraisal Department
A graduate from the University of Akron, Tom Radel has worked in the manufacturing sector since 1988 and joined Sill Company’s team of experts in 1999. His experience encompasses a variety of areas including technical operations and original equipment manufacturing. This expertise allows Tom to analyze and value contents of industrial, commercial and residential properties.
Tony Peternelj, Contents Appraiser
Tony Peternelj has extensive experience in property insurance. Prior to joining the Sill Company, he was a supervisor for a large internet-based insurance company, a commercial underwriter for ten years and represented the insurance companies as a licensed property and casualty agent.
Jeremy Geier, Contents Appraiser
Jeremy Geier’s focus with the Sill Company includes various types of personal property appraisals. His disciplined work in the support of contents claims is instrumental in the documentation of loss. Jeremy attended Notre Dame College on a football scholarship.
Monica Dezsi, Contents Appraiser
Monica Dezsi brings to the Sill Company more than 12 years of experience dealing with various aspects of the construction industry. Prior to joining the Sill Company, Monica was a Contents Manager for the world’s largest restoration contractor. Her focus as a contents appraiser is the documentation of all types of contents claims.
Nicole Baginski, Contents Appraiser
Nicole Baginski has been working in the Contents Appraisal field since 2011. She has extensive experience in inventory pricing and claim preparation for both residential and commercial claims and has worked on losses resulting from perils including fire, hurricane, tornado and flood. Nicole has a personal passion for advocating for the insured as she herself went through the experience without representation when she suffered a loss to her home.
Ronald T. Johnson, SPPA, CIC, Licensed Public Adjuster
Ronald Johnson rejoins Sill Company with more than 40 years of serving insureds on both commercial and residential claims. Ron previously worked with Sill Company from 1975 to 1991, then successfully ran his own firm, Stewart-Johnson and Associates Public Adjusters until recently, when along with Mike Stewart, he rejoined the Sill Company. Ron has been a national board member of NAPIA and has served on several community boards and remains active in community and charitable activities in his home area of Dayton, Ohio.
Michael W. Stewart, Licensed Public Adjuster
Michael Stewart brings his more than 45 years of experience in the insurance industry and public adjusting for both commercial and residential claims to Sill Company. For 16 years, Mike was one of the name principals in the firm Stewart-Johnson and Associates Public Adjusters, serving clients primarily in Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Indiana, and Texas before recently selling his firm and joining the Sill Company, primarily in the capacity of an executive general adjuster.
