Sill professionals, many of whom are former insurance company claims adjusters, are seasoned in the art and science of public claims adjusting. Michael Perlmuter brings to Sill extensive experience in both managing business and practicing law. His prior experience includes serving as Managing Principal of a wealth management firm, as Chief Executive Officer of Perlmuter Printing, and as an attorney with Benesch Friedlander Coplan & Aronoff of Cleveland, Ohio. He is actively serving as a Trustee on numerous local philanthropic Boards, including the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland, the Cleveland Board of the American Jewish Committee, the Cleveland Board of the Anti-Defamation League, and the Cleveland Regional Alumni Admission Committee for Georgetown University. Michael is a graduate, cum laude, of Georgetown University and The George Washington University Law School, both in Washington, D.C.

Elizabeth Cross, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Prior to joining Sill as Chief Financial Officer, Liz was the Vice President of Finance at WBC Group, LLC. Prior to that, she was a Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers servicing many different industries. Liz has served on several community boards and is actively serving as a board member of The Gathering Place. Liz is a graduate of Franciscan University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Jeffrey O’Connor, SPPA

Vice President

As Vice President, Jeffrey O’Connor directs our management team that provides urgent claim assistance to clients affected by catastrophes throughout North America. He is a former elected President and a member on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA) and has earned its highest professional designation, Senior Professional Public Adjuster (SPPA). Jeff graduated from Walsh College with multiple majors and has been a licensed public adjuster snce 1985.   He joined Sill in 1992.

Michael S. Hickle

Vice President, Manager, Adjusting Department & Executive General Adjuster

Prior to joining Sill in 2006 as a licensed public adjuster, Mike Hickle managed hurricane adjusting activities, including Hurricanes Jeanne and Katrina, for State Farm Insurance Companies and was a Large Loss Specialist for ten years. Mike’s experience with Sill includes handling numerous types of major complex claims throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. His exemplary leadership skills have earned him the position of managing the Sill adjusting staff. Mike is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University.

Jeffrey Gould, CPA

Prior to joining Sill as a licensed public adjuster and certified public accountant, Jeff led American Claims Management Services (ACMS), a well-known public adjusting firm located in the Baltimore and Washington DC area. He has also been actively involved in the industry as a former NAPIA (National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters) elected President during the 2018 term. Jeff has become one of the industry’s most respected accredited loss adjustment consultants, a leading authority on property insurance coverage and respected advisor on business interruption matters.

Dustin Wadsworth is an experienced and award winning digital content, marketing, advertising, and business development leader.  Before joining Sill Company, he worked for Group Plan Commission, a non-profit organization tasked with programming Cleveland’s historic venue, Public Square. Prior to that Dustin spent 15 years in the broadcast news industry. Much of that time was spent developing digital platform strategies, building new revenue opportunities, and improving digital advertising and marketing tactics. He graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a degree in Mass Communication.

Nancy Santin came to Sill Company in 1988 and has been our Office Manager for over 30 years. She is the Executive Administrative Assistant to the CEO, Supervisor of the Administrative staff for all locations and also assists our Regional Vice Presidents administratively.

Sue Koetter joined the Sill team in January 2019 as Accounting Manager and Human Resource Administrator. Before joining the Sill Team, Sue worked in the transportation, banking , and non-profit sectors. Most recently, she was a Senior Accountant with Lakefront Lines, Inc. and earlier in her career was a Senior Internal Auditor with National City Corporation. Sue is a graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting.

Joel Appelbaum

Prior to joining Sill as a licensed public adjuster in our Washington DC office, Joel was a public adjuster with American Claims Management Services (ACMS), a well-known public adjusting firm located in the Baltimore and Washington DC area. Before becoming a public adjuster seven years ago, Joel was a retail business owner that had leveraged the services of a local public adjuster following a loss to a commercial property. As an active member in the Washington DC business community, Joel is a member and involved in the Amity Club of Washington DC and Bethesda Chamber of Commerce as well as co-chair of the Progress Club Foundation. As a native to the Washington DC Metro area, Joel grew up and has lived in the area as well as graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Neal Novak’s experience includes working both on behalf of the policyholder and insurance companies, agents and brokers. While with Coopers & Lybrand and later with Deloitte & Touche, he provided services on major complex claims in support of their global clients. Since becoming a public adjuster in 1984, Neal has provided claims management services to a variety of individuals, companies and institutions.

Prior to joining Sill  as a licensed public adjuster, Ryan’s experience included ten years with Nationwide Insurance where he was the top large loss property adjuster in the country. His expertise and knowledge in the adjustment of large and complex commercial property claims makes him an invaluable advocate for Sill and its clients. Ryan attended Kent State University. Since joining Sill, Ryan has adjusted many multi-million dollar losses, including a recent settlement in excess of $60 million.

Jaeson L. Taylor, Esq.

Regional Vice President

Prior to joining Sill as a licensed public adjuster, Jaeson practiced law for 17 years, most recently for his own successful litigation firm. He has twice been named a “Rising Star” by SuperLawyers Magazine, an honor given to less than 5% of attorneys annually. As a former business owner, Jaeson brings to Sill not only his extensive legal knowledge and experience managing claims against insurance carriers, but also his understanding of the challenges facing businesses today. Jaeson is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College with a degree in Accounting, and earned his law degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

William Mangelluzzi is a uniquely qualified individual who brings over 30 years of experience to Sill.  Prior to joining Sill as a licensed public adjuster, Bill was an owner/operator of a premier restoration company specializing in commercial large losses.  He has also been a disaster contractor, consultant and independent adjuster. Bill attended John Carroll and Ohio Universities and holds numerous industry certifications including Fire, Water, Smoke and Mold. He has worked Hurricanes Ike and Sandy as a large loss consultant for Nationwide, as well as Hurricane Irma for Citizens as an independent adjuster.

Dean B. Harclerode, SPPA

Dean Harclerode has been adjusting losses since 1981. Prior to joining Sill, Dean represented the insurance companies for eight years as an independent adjuster, staff adjuster and then as a supervisor for Aetna Life & Casualty. Designated as a Senior Professional Public Adjuster (SPPA) by the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA), Dean has extensive experience handling major claims throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. He has a Bachelor of Science in Commerce Degree from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

After attending Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, Mike joined a regional firm of Independent Insurance Adjusters and was later promoted to Branch Manager. After representing the insurance companies for more than ten years, Mike joined Sill as an adjuster in 1991 and has handled numerous types of claims ranging from homeowners to major commercial losses.

Dan’s comprehensive knowledge and perspective of the claims adjustment process comes from prior experience as an agent, an insurance company adjuster and currently as a public insurance adjuster. Prior to joining Sill, Dan represented Cincinnati Insurance Company for more than eight years on commercial, industrial and residential claims. He is a graduate of the University of Toledo in Ohio.

Jason Marrero has been in the insurance industry for over 15 years performing a variety of roles including supervisor, trainer and large loss adjuster. Prior to joining Sill, Jason was a large loss property adjuster for Hanover Insurance handling claims throughout the country involving new commercial and residential construction. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty & Underwriting (CPCU) and Associate in Claims (AIC) certifications from the American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters. Jason attended the University of California, Irvine on a soccer scholarship and received his Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University of Ohio.

Before working as a public adjuster, he worked as a property and casualty claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance for five years as well as running his own internet marketing firm providing solutions for insurance agents and various insurance products. Jeff Thompson brings more than 15 years of insurance industry experience to the Sill Company.  Prior to joining Sill as a licensed public adjuster, Jeff was an agency owner for Allstate Insurance, Property Claims Specialist II for Nationwide Insurance, and an independent adjuster, handling claims for numerous insurance carriers.  Jeff has extensive experience handling large loss property and commercial property claims.  He holds an Associate in Claims (AIC) as well as an Associate in General Insurance (AINS) from The Institutes.

Donald Dragony has been a member of Sill since 1984. He received his Masters Degree in 1987 upon completing his thesis, “Business Interruption Insurance: Representing the Insured”. Don has been a featured author in the Journal of Accountancy and a guest speaker on business interruption topics to many national trade associations. Don also has been certified by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as being Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). The CFF credential is granted only to CPA's with considerable expertise in forensic accounting.

Prior to that, Mike opened and was responsible for three Branch offices and a Catastrophe Response Division for one of the Nation’s largest restoration contractors. Mike has held a multitude of certifications in areas such as general construction, OSHA training, fire, water, and smoke restoration as well as mold and lead remediation.

Shavonda Richardson

Shavonda Richardson has extensive experience in property insurance. Prior to joining Sill as a contents appraiser, she was a licensed property adjuster for 14 years with several large insurance carriers. Shavonda has handled various types of insurance claims including but not limited to homeowners, business interruption, and commercial losses. She is a graduate of University of North Carolina and holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Ronald Johnson rejoins Sill with more than 40 years of serving insureds on both commercial and residential claims. Ron previously worked with Sill from 1975 to 1991, then successfully ran his own firm, Stewart-Johnson and Associates Public Adjusters until recently, when along with Mike Stewart, he rejoined Sill. Ron has been a national board member of NAPIA and has served on several community boards and remains active in community and charitable activities in his home area of Dayton, Ohio.

Michael Stewart brings his more than 45 years of experience in the insurance industry and public adjusting for both commercial and residential claims to Sill. For 16 years, Mike was one of the name principals in the firm Stewart-Johnson and Associates Public Adjusters, serving clients primarily in Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Indiana, and Texas before recently selling his firm and joining Sill, primarily in the capacity of an executive general adjuster.
