When your policyholder suffers a loss, they rely on you, their agent, to help them in their time of crisis.  The insurance company, however, will assign an adjuster to the claim that does not have a relationship with your insured and it will be the adjuster’s responsibility to conserve the company’s assets and to protect their financial interests.

As you know, the policy requires the insured to prove the loss.  The insurance company adjuster will usually give the insured a list of demands including the need for a detailed inventory of all contents insured under the policy and request a detailed valuation of all building damages.  If the insured has sustained a business interruption claim, documentation must be prepared to support the period of suspension and related claims for loss of income.
